Collaborative Practice
One of the most important aspects of my work approach is radical inclusivity: if an issue affects everyone, I strive to talk to everyone, both individually and in groups. I center the voices of those most directly impacted, offer opinions only when asked, and help groups move toward decisions they can own through an ongoing cycle of learning and action. I listen deeply create accessible environments, and hold space for respectful, inclusive dialogue. When needed, I also name systemic dynamics that may be contributing to conflict.
I approach all consulting work and projects with the mutual goal of ensuring that learning, participation, and trust are integral to the process. This applies across all stakeholders, including the convening institution, steering committee members, and community members most impacted by the work being advanced. I build trust and respect by prioritizing listening first and foremost, then conducting research and interviewing key participants to better understand their values, practices, goals, and challenges.
While I stay engaged throughout the process, I remain intentional about not centering my own voice. Instead, I focus on creating conditions where all stakeholders feel heard and empowered to shape outcomes meaningfully. Early in the process, I work with groups to establish a shared understanding of the goals and identify how each person can uniquely contribute to achieving those goals.
